Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving, folks.
Been a while since I updated, but I felt it was a good time to do it. Voila, my first Thanksgiving meal.

Its amazing what a little rosemary, butter and cream can do with mushrooms and chicken. As you may have guessed, I spent the day alone... and it was bliss! Family were all out of town but, having never had Thanksgiving before, I didn't have anything to miss, so I decided to luxuriate today as I spent my two days off from work. And I forked out for fresh mushrooms and cream. Yummy!
I'm quickly coming up on the one year mark, and today, I genuinely do have a lot to be thankful for. In all the time I have been in Canada, I have not been unemployed. I have two fantastic jobs. I have my own amazing apartment (albeit sans window blinds... still working on a few details). I'm a member of a wonderful choir which is going to go great and amazing places this coming year.
Admittedly, not really any closer on the boyfriend front. But I have a dirth of wonderful, amazing friends. Some of them I have known since my second week here. Some of them I have only known for the past four months or so (though I will admit, it feels longer). And some of them, I have yet to meet (you know who you are, dear tweeps!)
OK, I can't maintain sugary (albeit sincere) speech for that long, so I'm going to finish there. I'm thankful: end of story.
I'm also very full.
Though, I may just have room for a PB&J sammich...

“In which our protagonist decides to embark on a little experiment...”
Hey there y’all (if there is in truth anyone there – I highly doubt it, but for the sake of this one way conversation, I will assume that there are at least two people reading this little and much neglected blog)
This is just a little test to check out the blogging abilities of the fairly new Windows Live Writer (I can’t help but feel it's Windows own half-baked attempt to muscle-in on the Apple iWeb scene… though much more limited a program).
I will now load a picture.
Like this.
Ooh! The picture went where I told it to go! No way to add page-cuts, by the looks of things, but, nothing’s perfect, I suppose…

"In which out protagonist meets a muse..."
Those who know me know that I have a thing for writing music. Truth be told, eventually I'd like to make a career out of it. But having only recently graduated, at the moment I'm concerning myself with building up a portfolio while I try and find a job that will pay bills.
As a large part of my final portfolio for university, I wrote a suite of five pieces, each inspired by a specific scene in five of my favourite sci-fi novels. These books included 'Flashforward' by noted Canadian author Robert J. Sawyer. Last night I got the chance to meet Mr Sawyer at a book reading/signing, and was able to give him a disc with the five tracks.
Needless to say, this was all somewhat frakkin' awesome.

For those interested in having a listen, here's the movement 'Flashforward' inspired. Enjoy!

Top of the Pods!
I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey... into my iPod.
I have rather a lot of music on my computer, and I was curious as to which tracks I listen to the most (at least, since the counter was last reset).
Unfortunately, as I do not really understand the HTML and CSS needed to create a page-cut in Blogger (LJ made things a lot easier), the post is a little big... space-wise. But, no matter: I now present you with that list of the top 25 most listened to tracks on ma' pod.
Please do not judge me harshley, for I know not what I do.

12 Of 12 - 12 February 2009
It's that time of the month again, and I've got my twelve pictures all lined up and ready for you! The times are a bit weird (work is a bit of a slog at the moment), but I've still tried to keep the selection interesting. All credit for this wonderful concept goes to Chad Darnell.
Well, on with the post...
Well, on with the post...
12 Of 12 - 12 February 2009
as it contrasts against the stark background of text and truth in the newspaper
food columns, demonstrating to the cornflakes how inferior they truly are!
(formerly a double-double, no doubt) left to live the remainder of it's short life,
exposed to the frozen elements...
so much more vibrant!
but, they're back! I swear it!
it may have been long, it was very good.
18:52 - The Streets (again): When graffitti is really thought out, it can
look really frakkin' cool.
19:08 - The kitchen: Dinner (and the remainder's of lunch!). Tofu & mushroom
canneloni. Yum!
